PERFECTLY IMPERFECT: THE POWER OF PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION

Hey, fellow perfectionists!

As a Capricorn, the desire for perfection can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Recently, I attended a breath work workshop where the practitioner shared a mantra that really resonated with me: “Practice makes progress, not perfect.”

Perfectionism is something that I have struggled with for as long as I can remember and I know that it keeps me stuck.

For me perfectionism leads to avoidance, procrastination (especially when it comes to making decisions), overthinking, and self-criticism.

The simple phrase "Practice makes progress" is a powerful reminder that life is about growth, not unattainable ideals.

Embrace Progress over Perfectionism

So here are 5 quick tips to help us embrace progress over perfection in all areas of our lives:

1. Set Realistic Goals: Focus on small, achievable milestones. Celebrate your wins, no matter how minor they seem!

2. Be Kind to Yourself: Instead of harsh self-criticism, acknowledge your efforts. Every step forward counts.

3. Focus on the Process: Enjoy the journey and the feelings that come with it, rather than fixating on outcomes.

4. Embrace Imperfection: Recognize that imperfection is part of being human. It opens the door to new experiences and insights.

5. Consistency Over Intensity: Aim for regular practice, even if it’s just a few minutes a day. Small, consistent actions lead to significant progress.

Let’s shift our mindset and prioritize progress over perfection. We’re all in this together!
