SHIFT HAPPENS: MOOD FOLLOWS ACTION

There was a time when I’d wait around for my mood to improve before doing the things I knew would help—like going to a yoga class, connecting with a friend, or tackling something around the house. I kept hoping for motivation to show up. But sometimes, it felt like I’d be waiting forever.
And here's the tricky part: I was waiting for the feeling before the action, when more often, the action actually brought the feeling.
That’s why something Rich Roll said really landed for me:
“If we wait until we feel like doing something, chances are we are not going to do that thing, because we’re never going to feel like doing it... In truth, the mental state that you aspire to inhabit... is a result of taking action first. Mood follows action.”
This idea is simple, but powerful. And it can be especially helpful when you’re feeling stuck.
A Few Ways to Take That First Step:
Move your body: A short walk, a few stretches, or a dance break can shift your energy quickly.
Reach out: Text or call a friend—just hearing a familiar voice can help.
Do it with someone: Make a plan with a friend or coach. Accountability adds structure and support.
Start tiny: Set a timer for 5 minutes. Do one thing. Let momentum build from there.
Change your space: Open a window, step outside, or clear a small corner.
Give yourself grace—but with a boundary: It’s okay to rest. But if you find yourself lingering in avoidance, try saying, “I’ll give myself the rest of the afternoon. Then I’ll check in and take one small action.”
It’s not about perfection—it’s about movement. One small shift at a time.
✨ If you’re feeling stuck today, try just one small action. See what shifts.

💛 And if it still feels hard—you're not alone. Reach out. You don’t have to do it by yourself.
